Lawn Treatment Programme
Our Lawn Treatment Programme is a complete programme of year round treatments which takes care of a number of essential aspects to lawn maintenance including:
- Applying the right fertiliser at the right time of year (and in the right amount!);
- Controlling weeds; and
- Controlling moss.
EARLY SPRING (February-April)
As the winter weather starts to recede, lawns will need a kickstart in advance of the new growing season. Our Early Spring treatment is designed to provide the relevant nutrients that the grass plants will need going into the first growth period, having potentially used up all their stored reserves over the winter. We apply a premium organic-based fertiliser which provides a multi-phase release of nutrients to the grass – focusing on not just leaf growth but also root development and resilience as well. Uniquely, the fertiliser we use also introduces organic matter into the soil which promotes stimulation of soil microorganisms which further support growth and a diverse soil ecosystem. The treatment is completely safe and is designed to be long-lasting providing nutrition for 2-3 months. Customers should see a noticeable difference in their lawn in just a couple of weeks!
- Prevalence of moss and weeds
- Soil structure and compaction
- Prevalence of thatch
- Mowing and watering regime
SPRING (April-June)
The Spring treatment is the first of the 2-in-1 treatments we provide as part of the Lawn Treatment Programme. As the temperatures increase and the days get longer the grass requires more nutrition to make the most of the improving growing conditions. Another application of granular, organic-based fertiliser is applied to maintain and boost growth and improve sward thickness and colour. As with the Early Spring treatment, the professional-grade fertiliser used feeds the soil as well as the grass plants, is organic-based and completely safe and lasts between 2-3 months.
At the same time (subject to the prevailing weather), we will also look to apply the first application of liquid weed control. We are licensed and specifically trained to safely acquire, store and apply selective herbicides to control weeds in lawns. The products we use are only available to licence-holders and are much more effective than those available to the public in garden centres etc. Weeds will also be taking advantage of the good growing conditions and will compete with the grass in the lawn for space and nutrition. Depending on the weed coverage, we may apply a blanket spray or spot spray – this is at our discretion and is designed to limit the overuse of herbicides unnecessarily. The weed control can take 2-3 weeks to take effect and some weeds can require 2 applications. We responsibly apply the herbicides we use in accordance with relevant legislation. If conditions prevent us from applying a herbicide, we will return free of charge when conditions are more appropriate.
SUMMER (June-September)
- The application of a non-scorch organic-based fertiliser to continue to support any growth and also to promote drought resistance;
- An application of liquid selective herbicide to control weeds, applied responsibly as either a blanket spray or a spot spray depending on weed coverage.
AUTUMN (October-December)
WINTER (January-February)
Tough conditions for lawns during this cold, dark period and grass growth is at a minimum. Care is still required however as moss continues to threaten to choke out the grass. The grass also needs to be protected as much as possible against the challenges of the winter season.
Our Winter treatment is designed to combat these winter threats and comprises a treatment of moss control which will dehydrate and blacken any moss together with a second application for the year of an essential micronutrient feed to harden the grass plants. The treatment will also enhance chlorophyll production which will improve the green colour of the grass plants to help maximise the available sunlight.
